"Congratulations to Kate Pickett and Hugh MacPherson who have both been awarded a Career Scientist Award (CSA) under the National Institute for Health Research Personal Awards Scheme. This scheme is described as follows: “The CSA offers five years funding to undertake a programme of research which is aimed at high calibre individuals who have the potential to become academic and research leaders within the course of an award. A CSA is expected to enhance existing career opportunities for both themselves and others in health related research."
"The Career Scientist Award supports the development of collaborative partnerships within and between Higher Education Institutions and the NHS in response to identified health needs”. Kate’s CSA is for a programme of research titled: 'Deprivation, difference and early development: Healthy societies for healthy families' and the amount awarded is £338,875. Hugh’s CSA is, 'Acupuncture for chronic pain and general health: evidence, policy and practice' and amounts to £338,629."
